About the Consultant
Juanita Renae Tallman is a Blackfoot (Niitsitapii) researcher and the founder of RealBlackfoot Consulting. She is a graduate student in forensic and biological anthropology at the University of Montana, with academic and professional experience in cultural resource management, Indigenous heritage, and ethical research practices. Her work centers Indigenous knowledge systems, accountability, and respectful engagement with land, history, and communities.
My history is rooted in Blackfoot lived experience and responsibility to place. Over the years, I have worked in public service, cultural interpretation, and heritage-focused roles that required careful engagement with land, history, and community knowledge. These experiences shaped how I understand accountability, respect, and the importance of Indigenous perspectives in public and institutional settings.
After years of professional work, I returned to university to pursue formal academic training in forensic and biological anthropology. This decision was driven by a desire to strengthen my ability to support ethical research, cultural resource management, and Indigenous-led approaches to heritage and historical inquiry. Today, my work reflects the combination of lived knowledge, professional experience, and ongoing academic study, all grounded in Blackfoot values and responsibility.

My mission is to carry out Indigenous-led research and consulting grounded in Blackfoot knowledge, academic training, and professional accountability. I am committed to ensuring that work involving Indigenous lands, heritage, and history is approached with care, accuracy, and respect.
Through RealBlackfoot Consulting, I work to bridge forensic and biological anthropology, cultural resource management, and Indigenous ethical frameworks. My goal is to support communities, institutions, and governments in responsible engagement that honors Indigenous sovereignty, informed consent, and the protection of cultural knowledge.
